    Excerpt · Critical tone

    Read excerpt

A Christian in eastern Uganda has been hospitalised after his Muslim sons beat him for leaving Islam. Kibirige Abumusa, 52, put his faith in Christ on 1 June at an open-air evangelistic event in Jinja City, which he had been encouraged to attend by a business colleague. When he returned home two months later, his adult son, 28-year-old Kibirige Nudallah, confronted him about his conversion, before beating him with a stick so badly that he was unable to leave hospital for a week. An almost identical bill was introduced by Lauren Edwards this June. Now that it has failed a second time, it is unlikely there will be any further attempts to introduce assisted suicide for several years.

London abortion march: ‘More opposition than ever’ (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

More than 10,000 pro-lifers marched through Westminster on Saturday, where they faced an unusually robust counter-protest from pro-choice activists. Marching under the theme "abortion hurts the family", Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Anglicans and many evangelicals were among those who gathered at the Emmanuel Centre. As they made their way to the Houses of Parliament, singing Christian hymns, they were joined by a chanting pro-choice presence, many of whom were part of a counter-protest organi
