    Barbara Brandenburg Brenner, the only grandchild of Taos Society of Artists founder Oscar E. Berninghaus, passed from this world Sept. 15, 2026, just two days before the Taos Fall Arts Festival, which she founded, resumed operations on Sept. 17. She was 97. A lifelong resident of Taos, Barbara was born in Santa Fe on Aug. 3, 1929, to J.P. (Jack) and Dorothy Berninghaus Brandenburg. Barbara was educated at Taos Elementary School and the Brownmoor School and received a B.A. from Colorado College.
