Early promise gives way to growing pains for Virginia at Ben Hogan Invitational (opens the original)
Read excerpt
A year after sharing the title at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at the prestigious Colonial Country Club, the Cavaliers struggled to find their footing in the 54-hole tournament behind their new young talent. Virginia finished 14th out of 16 historically accomplished programs, tying with Stanford at a 43-over 883. Virginia arrived at Colonial coming off plenty of momentum from 2025’s challenge, as former Cavalier Ben James shared medalist honors at the tournament just a year ago. First-y

No. 16 Virginia’s hopes of finally coming up with a win against No. 1 North Carolina at home in Klöckner Stadium unraveled in a brutal two-minute, 10-second stretch in the first half, as the Tar Heels scored three times to put the Cavaliers in a hole they could not climb out of. Virginia (5-2-2, 1-2-0 ACC) ultimately fell to the Tar Heels (10-1-0, 3-0-0 ACC), 3-1. The game started evenly enough. That single goal in the 37th minute from sophomore forward Kylie Maxwell off of a beautiful feed from graduate forward Henley Tippins, who drew multiple Virginia defenders, was enough to give No. 10 Virg

After 90 arduous minutes of action Sunday in the heart of the nation’s capital, Virginia players gasped for air with their hands on their knees as the clock finally wound down — nothing left in the tank. The 0-0 draw said it all, as opportunity after opportunity fell through the cracks. Now, there is little time to dwell on it. As Virginia approaches conference play, opponents will have no patience for slow starts. Four other ACC teams — No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Duke, No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 7 No

Read excerpt
Following a 21st-place finish in the nation at the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament just a few months ago, Virginia women’s golf is back on the course for a five-tournament slate this fall. For the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which kicked off the 2026-27 season, the Cavaliers traveled to Lake Elmo, Minn., playing three rounds of golf at the Royal Golf Club just outside of Minneapolis. Virginia took on 54 holes and 12 teams — seven of which finished among the top 25 teams at the NCAA Championships.
