‘The Post Office is heading the way of the Dodo’ - York customer laments closure (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Mary Morton's letter regarding the closure of the main Post Office in central York, at present situated within the TG Jones store, better known as WH Smith's to most citizens in York. Unfortunately the Post Office in its present form is heading the same way as the Dodo. With most pension now paid directly into banks/ building societies, posted cards and letters are superseded by text and mobile phones. I probably post only a dozen cards/letters a year. Direct Debit has superseded the paying of h
'Welcome to the world of PM Baldrick Burnham', says York letter writer (opens the original)

Watching Laura Kunnesburg on TV, she interviewed our unelected Prime Minister who was put in office much to the discontent of the British public. He sat there in front of the whole country, did not answer a single question about the problems that the country faces. Although not a great fan of Ed Sheeran, the supporting act left Ed in a embarrassing conundrum regarding the pro-Palestine rapper Macklemore. I fully agreed with Ed's stance on the whole issue of the turmoil in the world and his none comments on these events. A person should not be allowed to use his personal fame to promote his own personal controversial opinion to the general public. D M Deamer Penleys Grove Stree
Crime crackdown in York town will only work if parents step up, says resident (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I sincerely hope that the recent anti-crime initiatives in Haxby prove successful and that local residents continue to provide the police with the information and intelligence they need to identify offenders and bring them to justice. The vast majority of people in Haxby take pride in their village and treat others with respect. Unfortunately, a small minority continue to engage in antisocial and criminal behaviour, showing little regard for the community or its residents. Tackling this problem
