    Tomie (Murahashi) Katsuda passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 106. Tomie was born on February 4, 1920, in Laguna, California. At a young age, she was sent to Mie-ken, Japan, for her education. On January 18, 1937, she married Lester Kiyosu Katsuda. Both Tomie and Lester were Kibei and raised in the same village in Mie-ken. They returned to the United States after their wedding in order to start their life together in Venice, California. Their daughter Suzy was born in 1941.
