The Wolves, who have not dropped a set to WACO since 2022 and have not lost to the Warriors since 2008, narrowly claimed the first set 25-23. Columbus senior Daniela Diaz has been named to this year’s Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association’s Academic All-State Team. This season, Diaz batted .312 with 15 hits and three doubles and one triple, batting in six runs. To be named to the Academic All-State team, the athlete must meet two of the three following criteria; have a cumulative GPA of 3.85, an ACT score of 27 or higher (1200 or higher SAT), and must rank in either the top 5% of their class in 3A/4A/5A, or top 10% of their class in 1A/2A.
