Read excerpt
On Sept. 28, a group of prominent North Bay leaders called out a recent influx of racist, derogatory comments plaguing virtual public comment periods. Hours earlier, The Press Democrat has learned, a threat of violence was made against Joanna Paun, who is in the final weeks of her race for a seat on the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. The threat to Paun came from a social media account that has been prolific in sending the campaign messages targeting her race and gender — she is a Black woma

Some worry there will be additional postponements. “It’s an unnecessary delay, but consistent with Ken and his lawyers’ delay strategies,” said one

Dominic Foppoli, the former Windsor mayor and once a rising star in Sonoma County politics, on Friday, Sept. 11, was ordered to pay more than $13 million in damages to seven women who sued him over claims that he sexually assaulted each of them in a series of encounters going back to 2001. A Sonoma County Superior Court jury unanimously found in favor of each plaintiff, in awards ranging from $615,000 to $4.65 million.
