Triple digits continue into the weekend (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Highs will run a bit above average into early next week. Today, expect a high of 100, and similar numbers through Sunday. High pressure across the Western states will keep conditions stable and warm through early next week with little variance expected. Dew points remain fairly low, so despite the warmer-than-normal conditions it still feels reasonably comfortable. Highs next week tick up by a couple of degrees. The average for the date is 96, we'll be 5-7 degrees above that number.

As Hurricane Polo came ashore in Baja, California parts of the Coachella got hit by a tropical thunderstorm, specifically over Indio Hills. Runoff from that storm has closed a portion of Dylan road, but the storm moved out quickly after putting on a spectacular lightning show. Polo will track inland across Northern Mexico and then into New Mexico by tomorrow as a tropical depression. Hurricane Polo is tracking to Northwest very slowly, but it is an intense category 5 storm, packing winds of 160 m.p.h. It is expected to move closer to the Baja Peninsula over the weekend. Some of that moisture could work it's way into SoCal early next week. Temperatures start
Heat & humidity continue (opens the original)
Read excerpt
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 tomorrow evening. That, coupled with monsoonal moisture will make the next few days feel less than optimally comfortable. Dew points are hovering in the mid-fifties to mid-sixties so it's still super humid out there. There's a small threat of thunderstorms this afternoon, but the chances are pretty minimal. Highs will top out in the lower one-teens, but we see a significant cooler trend this weekend. Next week, we're looking temps some 5 degrees
