A raging fire destroyed a vacant building in Jackson Tuesday morning. Firefighters were called at about 5:35 a.m. to 1030 Bell Street, which police at the scene said was once Midtown Center. Smoke from the fire could be seen as far as Flowood. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the building. Firefighters worked for hours to extinguish the blaze. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
