    BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - Benton County could soon join a growing list of local entities recognized as a Purple Heart County, an official designation honoring veterans wounded or killed in combat. Kevin Veleke, a Vietnam veteran and Project Officer with Kennewick VFW Post #5785, presented the request to Benton County Commissioners.
