An ancient stone standing in the churchyard of St Mary's Church in Welshpool is said to have played a role in both medieval religious ceremonies and later local folklore. Known as the Maen Llog, the stone is believed to have originally stood at nearby Strata Marcella Abbey, founded in 1170.
