Recently, research at the Federal University of Technology Owerri in Nigeria has identified a promising strategy for reducing pollution from diesel engines without hurting their performance. Scientists there are exploring a surprisingly simple way to clean up diesel engine exhaust by inserting microscopic drops of water into the fuel using an emulsifier that goes along as the fuel is added to the tank.
