    Over the past month, my observations of the wildlife around our lakes have definitely changed. Is it a reaction to the hot temperatures, or perhaps the scent of smoke in the air? I’m not sure.     The activity around the lakes changes with the weather conditions. In our hot and humid climate, dragonflies are the most active creatures. They aren’t bothered by the heat; instead, they thrive on the hatching of flies. I captured a photo of a dragonfly on my window screen. During the day, these insects patrol the shallow areas of the lake, hunting for bugs, including mosquito larvae.
