Review - Romeo Stodart & Ren Harvieu, Lighthouse, Poole (opens the original)

FILE THIS under unexpectedly good, heartwarming, life-affirming even. She is the quirky, beautifully voiced singer who was signed at 18 and so nearly made it big time back in 2012 with her top five breakthrough album Open Up Your Arms. He is the gentle, self-effacing great big, but diminutive, bear of a man, the lead singer and songwriter from popular and acclaimed sibling hitmakers The Magic Numbers. Chalk and cheese it seems, but no, there is chemistry there. They met after he saw her performi
Review - Grace Petrie, Lighthouse, Poole (opens the original)
Read excerpt
HAVING only ever previously encountered Grace Petrie in festival situations, here was an excellent chance to catch the singer-songwriter’s full theatre set. In fact, it was two sets – the first half showcasing her folk roots with a solo set, followed by a full band blowout of career-defining favourites. Read excerpt
Poole Harbour Festival, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary, is going from strength to strength – and if it gets much bigger it will burst out of its Baiter site. The three-day event began life with a bunch of tribute acts and has now grown into a major attraction for thousands of people. Big name bands (albeit mostly with a heyday 20 years ago) take centre stage, along with a dance tent, funfair, children’s activities and a plethora of varied food outlets. Tribute acts still proliferate,
