A new school year is upon us although I could swear the previous school year just ended. Summer break is certainly not what it used to be. Around 100 years ago when I was in school, we had around three months for summer. That was three months for recreation baseball, fishing, swimming, riding motorcycles, going to 4-H camp, spending time with your friends and eventually having summer jobs once we got older. Now students barely have time for much of anything with their abbreviated summer breaks.
