Current projections call for a 2027 cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, of about 3.5 to 3.6%—higher than this year’s 2.8% adjustment. The increase would begin with January payments, though Medicare premiums and taxes could reduce the amount beneficiaries actually receive. For now, recipients will have to wait until October for the official number—and see how much of that increase actually reaches their monthly checks.
