It’s All Bueno for Stalefish • The Austin Chronicle (opens the original)
Read excerpt
A glockenspiel and saxophone aren’t necessarily indie rock prerequisites, but they’re signature elements for Nineties-inspired sixpiece Stalefish as their optimistic skate-grunge sound grows more unwieldy and adventurous. Out Oct. 9, third album Bueno opens louder and noisier, setting the scene for character sketches, mid-20s musings, and boundary fraying. “PA Toll Tag” introduces the record’s twin themes of contemplative apathy and sincere soul searching, sprinkled with crunchy distortion and s

With four songs left in their set, FreeBloo&theFreak were told the show was over – for the rap trio and following headliners Blackillac – with no explanation. Days later, festival CEO Luis Zapata told the Chronicl
Laura Lit's Abstract Creatures Take Over the Contemporary • The Austin Chronicle (opens the original)
Read excerpt

Some take wavy forms dotted with smooth bumps; others twist into optical illusions emphasized by shifting colors. As the internal designs become external works, Lit coaxes them to bloom flat on canvas, or wiggle their hairy way onto the floor. “It’s l
