    In the early 1880s, the forests along Big River and its tributaries echoed with the sounds of logging crews harvesting redwoods for the Mendocino Lumber Company. One of the company’s camps was Two Log Camp, sometimes called Jarvis Camp after its foreman, Arthur Jarvis.
