NEW YORK, Sept 9 (Reuters) - With two months until the U.S. midterm elections, the options market is showing a potentially toxic mix of fragility and fearlessness, with some analysts worried markets are ill-prepared to absorb any shock. Despite recent bond market volatility, stocks remain near record highs, volatility measures are near 2026 lows, and equity market correlations are flirting with record lows, meaning stocks are moving more independently than usual. While analysts do not expect th

NEW YORK, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Fear of missing out is driving a buying rush on Wall Street, with options market metrics flashing some of the most bullish signals in years. Easing tensions in the Middle East, falling oil prices and robust earnings reports have supported the market's climb to new highs, but some options-market measures suggest investors' FOMO has emerged as a distinct driver of the rally. "There are several factors, but FOMO is a part of it," said Mark Hackett, chief market strate

The dollar was also weaker across the board after data showed U.S. inflation slowed in June, a day after the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged, dashing hopes for a rate hike. Markets have been on alert for yen-buying by Japanese authorities, who ha
Dollar eases as markets await Fed decision (opens the original)
Read excerpt
NEW YORK, July 28 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar slipped but remained near a one-month high on Tuesday, as traders weighed the prospect of a Federal Reserve interest-rate hike this week, even as falling oil prices eased some inflation concerns. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies including the yen and the euro, was 0.2% lower at 101.35, not far from the 101.80 high touched in late June. The euro was up 0.2% to $1.1393, while sterling rose 0.1% to $1.3288.
