The Agriculture Department announced the July Federal order Class III benchmark milk price at $15.52 per hundredweight (cwt.), down 46 cents from June, $1.80 below July 2025, and the lowest Class III since February. A heat dome covered much of the Midwest and northeast sending temperatures soaring, as the nation prepared to celebrate 250 years on July 4. The temperatures do not bode well for milk output or components. Milk prices were chilling however, as the Agriculture Department announced the June Federal order Class III milk price at $15.98 per hundredweight (cwt.), down 94 cents from May, and $2.84 below June 2025. It is the lowest Class III price since February and put the six month average at $15.90,
