Eagle Archives, Aug. 19, 1960: Pittsfield's lady painter, pushing 77, cringes if you bring in Grandma Moses (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Pittsfield has its own Grandma Moses, except that she's much younger and isn't too happy about her pictures being compared with those of the venerable painter of Eagle Bridge, N.Y. Mrs. Dora B. Gottsche of 19 Lincoln St. is only 76, and she can draw in proportion, which she â or rather her husband, George, one of her foremost fans â says Grandma Moses can't do. Mrs. Gottsche has painted hundreds of pictures â a good proportion of that total seems to be hanging on the walls of the Gottsches
