On this day in 2016, cattle were evacuated from a farm near Hitchin as a massive blaze engulfed a haystack and barn overnight, involving 950 tonnes of hay. The fire at Angels Farm, on Kings Walden Road in Offley, started at about 5.45pm and raged into the next day. On this day in 2021, a portrait of NHS fundraising hero Captain Sir Tom Moore was donated to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital. The portrait was donated by artist Diane Warburton, a member of the Beds, Herts and Bucks Inner Wheel, and was displayed at the hospital’s LIFE Gallery.
