    EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. — The tractor hummed, the rotobeater shredded foliage, and sugarbeets clattered off of a harvester conveyor into trucks as Ross Pape launched his 2026 sugarbeet pre-pile harvest for American Crystal Sugar Co on Friday, Aug. 14. “They’re running very well for the conditions we were dealt,” Pape said about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, periodically beeping the harvester horn to alert the truck driver to move his vehicle further ahead in the field west and north of East Grand Forks.
