How to watch Yankees vs. Rays in ALDS: Start times, channels, and more (opens the original)
Read excerpt
The Yankees lost the AL East to the Rays, but they have a chance for the last laugh, Thanks to a pair of emphatic victories over the rival Red Sox in the American League Wild Card Series, the Yankees punched their ticket to their eighth Division Series in the past decade. The parameters of how to get to the ALDS have evolved some since that streak began in 2017 (when they won a memorable one-game playoff against the Twins), but the Yankees have found their way there more often than not. This wil
Yankees electrified the Bronx crowd in the playoff opener against the Red Sox (opens the original)

For much of the week or so building up to the beginning of the MLB playoffs, there was a lot of chatter going on about the postseason format and how goofy it was (to use a kind word) for the second-best team in the American League to be shunted to a Wild Card Series while one with eight fewer wins got a first-round bye and another that was flat-out .500 was given equal treatment with home field in the Wild Card. The Yankees can’t do anything about it. It is absolutely fair to say that they had c
Yankees Rivalry Roundup: Astros, Phillies nail down last playoff spots (opens the original)

Game 162 doesn’t hit quite like it used to with the proliferation of Wild Card spots, but as long as there are still some stakes, it offers some excitement. Selfishly, I always prefer when the Yankees don’t have stakes and I can just neutrally watch the chaos, which is what yesterday at least partially offered — just with an unnecessarily long stay of execution waiting for a Yankees rain delay to officially turn to cancellation. The AL West Rock Fight between Houston and Texas came to its beauti

The regular season was buried in the rain yesterday, but for over a week now, the Yankees have had their eyes on October. OK fine, due to how Major League Baseball lined it up this year, we have to be pedantic and talk about late September first. The Wild Card Series against the Red Sox begins tomorrow night, and that will determine whether or not the Yankees actually make it to the literal month of October. If they win Game 1, then they’re guaranteed of that since at minimum, Game 3 would be Oc
Cam Schlittler is officially the ERA champion | Pinstripe Alley (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Fittingly, Schlittler matched the Yankees' last Cy Young winner, 2023 Gerrit Cole (2.63), in leading the league in ERA. Before Cole, a Yankees pitcher hadn't led the AL in ERA since Rudy May in 1980 (2.46). Schlittler's 1.95 ERA is the third-best in Yankees history by a qualified starter, trailing only the legendary 1978 from Ron Guidry (1.74) and a wartime year from 1943 Spud Chandler (1.64). Congrats, Cam! Keep it going in the playoffs, beginning on Tuesday.
