Social media is often blamed for contributing to anxiety among young people. But new research from the University of Arkansas suggests online platforms may also provide a source of emotional support that could help reduce anxiety symptoms. The study, published in Psychiatry International, found that young adults who reported receiving more emotional support through social media also reported lower levels of anxiety. Researchers examined more than 2,400 U.S. adults between the ages of 18 and 30.
