    The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Denton County on Tuesday as thunderstorms are set to bring near-record rain and a relief from the heat. The flood watch is effective from Wednesday at 4 p.m. to Thursday at 1 p.m. Meteorologists report North Texas, especially along and west of Interstate 35, could get 2 to 5 inches of rain Wednesday night. That would be a near-record amount for September. Some isolated areas could get higher total rainfall up to 8 inches, meteorologists say.
