139. The bad boy of graphic design. (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Pretty much every article you find online about designer Tibor Kalman describes his story, from Hungarian immigrant to rockstar graphic designer. As if the authors of such articles were afraid of forming an opinion on him or his work. I’d even dare to say Tibor would consider reading one more of those stories unbearably boring.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!JJr1!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.

Comrades, did I ever mention that Japan ruined my life? If not, I’ll tell you why in a future newsletter. Today I want to share why there are many reasons to fall in love with Japan. For me, one of them was the taxis.<img alt="" class="sizing-normal" height="
137. I did nothing, it worked! (opens the original)

Comrades, it’s been great doing nothing for a couple of weeks. Some of you pointed this out in Notes, saying how important it is to step away from things from time to time, and I couldn’t agree more. 136. Eclipse things. (opens the original)
Read excerpt
In my forty-something years across the galaxy, and just before this week, I’ve been very lucky to have experienced three eclipses: two total ones in Mexico City as a child, and a partial one in Spain while at university. And now, a fourth one this past week.To be frank, a revolution would have excited me considerably more than another eclipse, but since the Brits aren’t particularly good at starting them, the eclipse was at least a good excuse to get me out of the flat on a warm summer evening.<
