A Sunday Dilemma. (opens the original)

I’ve been procrastinating - easily done. As the fallen leaves start to form in beautiful piles of Autumnal colours, as do my sewing projects. 50 pages of the Sunday Dressing Gown pattern have been sitting at Grandma’s for longer than I care to admit, waiting to be pieced together. Not only that, but I may have piled a few bits and bobs on top so it doesn’t continue to taunt me with its unstuck-togetherness.I do tend to crack on with projects faster when all of the elements are ready to go, and h

I’m going to start with a confession; I’ve indulged and bought my very own sewing machine. Very exciting. And in complete contradiction to the theme of my last newsletter, I’ve been sewing solo.Fear not, nothing bad has happened, Grandma and I are still friends. Getting Started (opens the original)

A hot topic in my sphere right now is confidence, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot.I’d love to say confidence was permanently instilled in my brain, but for me it comes and goes, sometimes sticking around for a few days at a time, sometimes taking residency only for a few short hours. That means striking when the iron is hot in a confidence surge and accepting when there’s an ebb that a fair amount of procrastination is likely to occur. What does this have to do with sewing? Absolutely everyt

Down on the Farm (opens the original)

After my trial period as resident barista, my role at Whistlebare rapidly changed. Sitting at lunch everyday looking at the photographs of the Angora goats and Wensleydale Sheep, I knew I wanted to visit the farm, but like many things in life right now, I just hadn’t got around to it. Little did I know that I would soon be tasked with a very immersive visit …I had very briefly popped by days into the month so that Alice could help me with a particularly tricky bit of sewing (elastic - something
