Theology of Work 03: Work as Redeemed by God (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Work is a calling designed for love, service, and human flourishing. While rebellion caused a curse that infects different aspects of work and life, Jesus redeems our work, giving it eternal meaning and future hope. There is dignity and nobility in all work; there is no hierarchy of vocations; all honest work is God's work. As all work is connected, it should bless others, commend the gospel, and participate in God’s mission. Supporting texts: Romans 8:18-23, Colossians 3:23—24
Theology of Work 02: Work as Witness | Mission (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Our labor is a form of love and a powerful witness to others. In Genesis, we see a glimpse of the call to have dominion over God's creation. Whenever followers of Christ, by His grace, live out this call to create, reorder, and be productive, we reflect an aspect of what it means to be people who reflect the image of God and point people to Him. Supporting texts: Matthew 5:13—16, 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
Theology of Work 01: Work as Worship (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Read: Genesis 2:15 God has designed man to reflect who He is, and work is an aspect of this call to reflect the image of God. In Genesis, work is a pre-fall blessing, not a post-fall curse. While sin has distorted our view and experience of work, the gospel reshapes all of life, including work. This renders work spiritual rather than merely secular. Our faith is lived out through our work, and it is our worship unto the Lord. Supporting text: Colossians 3:23-24
