I didn’t know him, although I felt I had a pretty good idea of the kind of guy he was from reading his amazing memoir - The 13th Month: Vietnam Roadtrip: In Search of My War (available at Amazon). Though drafted against his will in 1967, he honorably served as an Army reporter in Vietnam. Several former Vietnam draftees have said Doug’s book gave voice to their unspoken experiences.
