West Pier, Brighton. 10am. 19°C sunny, light breeze. High tide.Wednesday morning has become an almost regular slot of time to myself. I can go slower and on this fresh morning I have the beach on my mind. It’s a slow walk down through the city, through the lingering students and standstill traffic, through familiar streets. As I walk down the hill, I can see the flat blue horizon between the trees. A bright temptation and a blissful reward.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https

West Pier, Brighton. 10.35am. 15°C, warm sun, light breeze. High tide.Hello September. Here you are with your bittersweet promises of new beginnings and blank pages. It also gives me a new way to play with the poems and break them up into something new. These mini zines are not made in a “poem-a-page” style. They are created to be fun and experimental mini projects rather than beau

August has, so far, been a break from the beach. I haven’t walked the shingle, dipped in the sea or visited my favourite spot by the West Pier. So, no beach journals this month. But I did have a peaceful stop in nearby Rottingdean where I met with an old friend. That’s her camera on the table, she was a professional photographer and she has kindly offered to teach me a little after I was given a lo-fi film camera. (More on that to come.)<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://s
