I am not sure what age it was that my mother began talking so much about the weather, but it seemed to be the same age it happens to most folks. Her seventy-fourth birthday was this past week, and lately so many of our conversations have become about storms: rainstorms, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes. Sunny weather does not interest her nearly as much. From her I get full weather reports covering half of America, and sometimes the world, when the news is catastrophic enough to warrant it.
