There’s a candle burning on the windowsill in my living room. It’s the day of my uncle’s memorial, and beyond the candle, our small garden’s roses, passion flowers and overstuffed greenery are reminding us what a riot of a summer it had.The memorial is taking place online, an insubstantial place for such an immense event and yet, for an event happening 6000 miles to the south of where I am sitting, I’m so grateful I can be there.
