“All of my bodies are tired.1”– I wrote as I sat in a quiet cafe in the South of Goa in February 2024. I just spent an afternoon at a local dog shelter walking rescue dogs, some with cancer, some still in hyper-vigilance, all tired and under-nurtured. I logically knew that they were safe now, they were fine, they were healing, but suddenly I wasn’t – my empath self absorbed their energy and their struggle.<
