Englishman with Genghis, Calling CPS, Bagram Hoard - Monday Cup Of Links #123 (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Happy Labor Day! I’m still not writing! I’m off of devices most of my day, other than for work! And my life is so much better for it. I’m eating, sleeping, exercising, socializing, and up-to-date on my paperwork. I do really need to figure out a few hours to do the last few edits on my novel, though. I feel awful about it, but life’s really so good when I’m not thinking about it. I do really need a healthier relationship with writing. I’m starting to think about what that looks like. I guess the

Happy Monday! I’ve spent the last few weeks interacting with a lot of people for work. And, strangely, that seems to help me interact with people outside of work as well. Which makes me wonder, is that all it takes to cure the social anxiety epidemic we keep hearing about? I gotta say, I’m not socially anxious, but I usually assume there is no reason to talk to people, and either do my own thing, or eavesdrop on other people. Happy Monday! It’s been a crazy week on social media, what with Jason Arday’s sudden death and that woman killing her kids while psychotic. I’ve personally been thinking a lot about the role of parenting in ensuring children are well-adjusted and learn well. There’s a lot I could write about, but somehow, I feel less and less like the person who can write social media crap explainers. I’m also yet to watch the Operation Sindoor declassified documentary, so maybe I’ll have a take on that next wee
Marshmallow, Root Beer, Eggs, and the Kennedys - Monday Cup Of Links #120 (opens the original)

Happy Monday! It’s back to school week! We’ve been taking in the last few sighs of summer break, and shopping the back-to-school sales. It seems like lunch box styles in America are tending towards Indian lunch carrier styles - it’s a perfect design to have stainless steel tiered stackable boxes that snap together to be leakproof. I’m just marveling at the wide variety of water bottles and travel mugs available these days. The fanciest thing there was when I was growing up was this one: <a class
A month without writing (opens the original)
Read excerpt
Before the summer break started, I thought I had it set — I’d be making a transition to a better job, and I had a few weeks off, which I’d use to finish off the novel, travel, and spend time with my kid and the family. Then I had some extremely unexpected stress that triggered a whole bunch of other issues some of which scared me quite a bit. I went off of all the apps for a short while, because the pathological scrolling that I’d developed to deal with stress was making everything worse. <p
