No one needs to be reminded that this Summer was about as SUMMER as it could get. It was scorchingly hot, and way too dry. July was a blur of shimmering heat and choking humidity, days on end where I sought refuge in my cool house staring out the window at the wilting flowers, the bright white sunlight, how the air held a smoky haze, nights far too uncomfortable for an open window.
