Before there were GoFundMes, there were rent parties. In Black communities across this country, when a neighbor couldn't make rent, the community threw open the doors with music, food, dancing… and EVERYONE chipped in so nobody got priced out and displaced back in the 1920s. A rent party was never just a party. It was mutual aid with a baseline for organizing. It was a refusal to let anyone face the landlord alone.On August 1st, we’re bringing that tradition home to Roxbury.<a class="image-link
