A World to Escape Into (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

Do you ever wish you could escape? There are times when life takes those twists and turns that you wish you could just run away from and escape to something else, something better. I live in a small village. It sits at the top of the valley and I’m sure I’ve shared on here before that I used to pretend that we lived on an island when I was little. On the horizon there are couple of pylons and some trees that always looked to me like a ship.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https

An Autumnal List (opens the original)

September always feels like a strange month. It doesn’t feel like summer, but it’s not quite autumn. Leaving a Legacy (opens the original)

    Excerpt

One Sunday morning in 1997, my mam came into my room at around 9am and told me that Princess Diana had died. A couple of years ago I was shopping in Marks and Spencer in the Metro Centre when the music suddenly went off and a message came through from my friend telling me that HM Queen Elizabeth II had died. The reaction to these events was widespread and it was difficult to go anywhere in the days that followed and not hear someone talking about those ladies or read something somewhere about th

A Summer Story: Chapter 6 (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Neutral tone

This summer I decided to document each week in a slightly different way with each week being recorded as a chapter of a story. Some weeks I had more to share than others but I hope you have enjoyed reading each chapter. Thank you for supporting Tales From a Small Life. Subscribe nowThe last week of the long summer holidays is one I always meet with equal joy and dread. Knowing that the next break is a few very busy weeks away, I have made it a practice in recent years to make sure I don’t
