    Collective PTSD (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

I was asked at work this morning about my experience living through the events of September 11, and the thing I realized is that as a nation, maybe even as a species, those of us alive at the time experienced collective PTSD. Especially if you were in NYC and the Boroughs. Or DC and Shanksville, PA. There's a certain anxiety that comes with knowing you were a target, and to be clear, Bin Laden targeted ALL of us that day.Do you get over it? No, but you move past it. You never get too far from it

I started noticing lately, since the Knicks won the NBA Title, that I was getting invested in all things pro basketball. I decided to do a weekly, maybe semiweekly, look at the upcoming season. I fell to my knees and

    Excerpt

I’ve had a long hard look at this question over the last 24 hours or more. I’m not going to sugarcoat this and I’m going to be extremely brutal (in a truly masochistic way). I don’t know what my purpose is. I’m left wondering if I ever knew. If I did, did I wander so far from it that I forgot? I know I wasn’t “made” just to work 40 hours a week at a job that isn’t challenging, that is the same thing every day and that amounts to muscle memory and autopilot.<div class="subscription-widge
