We’re Bringing Back Building By Regular People (opens the original)

Hey StrongHavenistas, I’m a big fan of optionality in a lot of areas of my life. But sometimes, when I’m ready to really test an idea and want to make some progress, I like to paint myself in a corner. This forces me to focus and paint my way out. This trick probably dates back to my high school days as a long-haired slacker, when I managed to consolidate my work into flurries of last-minute effort through deliberate procrastination. Riders of all abilities came by and hung out at the stop, many going in to check out the general store.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!Vya_!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_pro
Build for America (opens the original)

When I was in college, George W Bush and Ted Kennedy passed the bipartisan No Child Left Behind bill. It was a time when many policymakers saw educational inequity as a pressing moral issue that called for urgent action. I joined Teach for America as a corps member out of college, inspired by its mission to ensure that every kid in the U.S. has access to an excellent education. During my four years of classroom teaching in Mississippi, I didn’t think too much about the broader educational landsc
