Stand Up-Fall Down-Repeat
You know who you were. You're still figuring out who you are now. The gap between the title you carried and the life on the other side, that's exactly where I write from. I'm Kay. Retired federal agent, ICF-certified coach, midlife paddleboarder in Hawaii

New vlog’s up. This one’s about a choice I didn’t realize I was making every day: count the minutes, or actually live in them. Right now, in this season, I catch myself picking the wrong one more than I’d like to admit.I write about building something new after a career that consumed who you were. Kaizen Moment: Marco Polo Friends (opens the original)

Sometimes I take for granted what I get to see on a Tuesday morning paddle with my outrigger crew. Today, out on Kāneʻohe Bay, we come across a swath of water filled with honu, Hawaiian for turtles, swimming, gliding, playing. The sun cuts through the water, turning it a light teal that makes the dark green shells easy to spot. From all sides of the canoe, the crew keeps calling it out: “There’s a honu. Got out on the water with the crew today, still recovering a little from the storm so we stayed close to shore. Turtle Town delivered anyway. Watched two turtles take turns popping their heads up for air, like they were playing Marco Polo. Made me think of a friend I’ve done that with for over twenty years. This vlog is that moment, and the question it left me with. Mahalo for being here. If this resonates, share it with someone who might need to hear it, or invite them to follow along at Stand

This morning, as we set the boats off onto Kāneʻohe Bay, I am seated in seat one. The team’s mood is light and we are giddy to get out on the open water. The bay is smooth, no wind, no current. The sun is starting to break through the clouds, and I am just starting to feel the warmth come through. I set the blade into the water and feel the resistance of the water as I pull my paddle. It feels clean and crisp, and with each catch I feel stronger.Just when I think I’m hitting the pace and shaking

Hey, new one's up. Went out for outrigger practice not long ago and my crew had to tell me to slow down twice before it actually landed. Got me thinking about how much of my pace still runs on old orders, two decades of moving fast for a reason, and now some days there's no reason left and I'm still moving like there is. Short vlog below if you want the whole thing.
