We now find ourselves amid what is shaping up to be a potentially record-breaking hot summer. As I write, the fields and hedgerows are tinder dry. I would strongly urge people to be especially vigilant when enjoying a BBQ and to avoid lighting bonfires due to the increased risk, especially in our county’s wooded and farmland areas. Field fires can very easily get out of control (Image: Sonya Duncan) Flash fires can be devastating for our wildlife and those who rely on the land for their living.
