Fall is finally here, friends! I have been blessed by the gloomiest weather this week. Clouds and drizzling rain and air that feels less like a hug and more like it wants to cool me off. Last week we had a good September downpour, and I relished the sound of the rain pattering on my windows and roof. I took my children out for a walk with their rain boots so we could splash in some puddles, and even though it began to rain again while we were out, we still had fun. <a class="image-link image2 is

Ok, ok, I am going to do the big announcement first, because I absolutely cannot wait! One of my books is being published! The Dust That Made Us, a chapbook of original poetry, has found a home at , and will be released on November 29. You can preorder it here. This book is an invitation to immerse yourself in familiar Bible stories. While writing it I was blown away by how beautifully every story in God’s word points to Christ, and His love for us. My friend was the first person I heard use the term “imprecatory prayers.” Until she told me about them, I didn’t know there was a special name for ways in which you could pray for God to smite your enemies. I thought about the word a lot, and figured I’d try my hand at writing an imprecatory psalm, but as you’ll see as you read it, I came to a realization while doing so.<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!sSE8!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progres

How to find happiness (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

It is very rare these days that I sit down to watch a new movie or TV show. There is so much comfort in familiar media that it has become easier to grab a DVD from my shelf than it is to rent something online that might disappoint me. But as someone whose two favorite comfort movies are Pride & Prejudice and Knives Out, coupled with some great marketing on instagram…it was pretty much inevitable that I’d watch Sheep Detectives and The Other Bennett Sister. Since watching them, they’ve been bounc
