The List (opens the original)
Read excerpt
A few days before my birthday last year, I started writing a list. I can’t remember how far I got, which things made it on to the actual page and which stayed in the mental file- I can’t even remember which of my many notebooks contained the list. But I do remember writing the list (or at least the start of it).Now I am the kind of person to write lists on an almost daily basis so why does this partial, unfinished list of unidentified notebook, stick in my mind? Well my friend, this list contain
Write Sad and Edit... Still Desperately Sad (opens the original)
Read excerpt
This post is a letter to a friend who died last week. My grief is still quite raw.Okay okay, I tried… admittedly not very hard, but I did try to give up my Substack habit. But like other habits one might attempt to give up, determination is quickly eroded when life suddenly becomes much harder, inexplicably sadder. Writing, like running, has become a coping mechanism. I guess when I started I didn’t plan on continuing for more than a month! Instead it’s been 19
4 Rotations Around The Sun (opens the original)

There are so many things I could write about this week but I don’t have time to do them justice. I’ve just returned from my 4th Rotation Garden Party a beautiful tiny festival nestled in Staffordshire. The same crowd go every year and it’s so wonderful to be reunited with people you’ve shared this very special experience with…. Humans bonded together by the magical yurt.I managed 140,000 steps over the weekend and not much sleep so I really am going to make this a short post. If you want to know
Is done better than perfect? (opens the original)

I’m super pushed for time this week so I thought I’d share this post I’ve just read as a shortcut. I wasn’t intending to write any more than this but as you’ll see, I found I had a bit more to say…<img class="embedded-post-publication-logo" src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!PdgY!,w_56,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubsta
