What? Music? 49 (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

    Read excerpt

As I get to know myself, which as I get older I realize takes the whole time, I see things in myself that I can't see in other people, things that I still tag as normal for me but no longer assume are the kinds of things all the other kids have going on upstairs.I have found an unstudied attention to some simple Buddhist principals to be of some assistance to the personalized foibles of my me-ness. I can see why Buddhism has seen the success it has seen over the course of its way. Even without s

    Toot Toot (opens the original)

    Excerpt

There is this ultimate language people seem to value and want to use- the best little whore house in texas et al. People are fond of being known as the best whatever-it-is they are and if you want a thing and money is no object it is assumed that you will have the best: the best doctor, the best shoes, the best car, the best bike or whatever, the most beautiful. What? Music? 47 (opens the original)

    Episode notes

    Read excerpt

I grew up in a college town. I live in one now. In the summer it gets quiet and grown ups and their kids become the herd. Then like rain on the ocean ten thousand young adults appear, clean and unruffled and judgemental and cosplaying adults, gloriously unsupervised, freshly autonomous, fit from having grown into their shape and for no other reason. I was an odd, thin young man when I was one. I have certainly spent a few pennies finding the depths of melancholy, pushing the up button well aware

The Best Water in Iowa (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

I have found that the best place to get water that is safe to drink in Iowa is Walmart. It was a series of decisions. There is a whole other story involving emails to my local water authority and the company that makes the test strips that indicated the water coming out of the taps in my home is FAR from safe to consume. It’s a story that has not yet come to its conclusion. I can’t tell it yet. So… Walmart for water. Thanks for reading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts
