In a poem called “Dad Joke,” about two-thirds into his new book Elegy for Pangaea (Fonograf, Sept 2026) the writer Mark Leidner writes about the song “Who Let the Dogs Out.” The meta-punchline of the poem, the titular dad joke, is a pun made from the title of the Y2K track by the Baha Men and delivered “in the unmistakable cadence of the song.” It comes at the end of a page, and I won’t ruin it here because it is actually rather funny. It’s followed by white space that takes up the remainder
