Read excerpt
Even the most perceptive minds might not always notice the slow social and cultural transformations that happen around them. Aavasam (Habitus), a documentary directed by Kiran K.R., a student of the K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts, is notable in how it documents such changes. According to the office bearers of the Kerala Grama Panchayat Association, who met Local Self Government Department Minister K.M. Shaji earlier this wee

Read excerpt
It may be one of cinema’s greatest tricks that it can twist one’s line of thinking on a person or an incident just with the perspective it chooses to present or the framing, editing choices or the background score being used along with it. Reading a basic news report on the incident of crime at the centre of Shahad’s Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar might make one assume a particular stand on the culprits, knowing the long history of this kind of crime in the country and the stories that can be made
