I should have woken up in Brazil today, refreshed after a nearly 24 hour travel day. I should be hanging out with other retailers from all over the world of all different backgrounds connected by one shared interest. I should have toured a factory where Veja makes their newest trail shoe, the part of the trip I was most excited about since it’s been a very, very long time since I’ve been onsite. I should be flying back to Sao Paolo and then driving to Paraty Thursday so I can run 17km on soupy t

Surfer Girl Fall (opens the original)

    Excerpt · Positive tone

    Read excerpt

We’re halfway into a long weekend, when everything still feels normal but with a little more ease; the comfort of knowing there’s a bonus day for catching + doing all the things. We have two cats, a mom (Mama) + her son (Nacho). If you visit our website, they’re the two kitties featured on our home page.1 Today also happens be Nacho’s birthday, he is turning. I ran the ASICS Falmouth Road Race (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

Last Sunday, I ran my very first road race in almost ten years. This is excluding the turkey trot I did when Dougie was a year old, and the two 5ks I’ve done with him in the stroller. Sure I had a bib and the races were timed but I also showed up 30 minutes before the gun went off and they were relatively small affairs. There were no brand sponsorships, the numbers were in the hundreds (vs. tens of thousands) and they were very low stakes. <a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" href="https

A Marathon Weekend Recap (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

I wrote most of this Sunday, en route to Hawaii, a respite the result of a random summer break we forgot about, during Dougie’s last remaining weeks at his current daycare before he starts (cry) real school.1 Over a week has passed since we went hard for the SF marathon, a distant memory replaced by the endless cycle of bills, orders (+ reorders) and a million forms for the aforementioned real school enrollment.I have this habit of going hard with the hope of relaxing later, a cycle I developed
