Moon Cake Edition (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I am no moon cake expert, but I have had a few since marrying into a Chinese family. I was not particularly paying attention to the moon, but I think the festival was last week. So my spouse got a moon cake on sale. Usually they have ornamental relief and can come with various ingredients, usually very rich with an egg yolk to represent the moon in it. The cake gets cut up to share with family and friends. Ours had matcha in it and was pleasant. I saw some reels of people mentioning that during

This morning as I walked my dog, I noticed the first leaves changing colour, I also almost twisted my ankle on a fallen horse chestnut on our street, and earlier we decided to switch the heat pump to heat mode. You may have noticed that I’ve been away, though perhaps it is more likely that it made no difference to you at all. Anyhow, I was in China with my family and didn’t take my ipad for drawing comics. And then we have the fans still blowing in the living room so it sounds like we are living in the middle of some kind of weather. Hope you have peace and tranquility where you are if that is your thing.Leave a comment<a class="button primary" href="https://raymondknakamura.substack.com/p/thunderous-edition?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&a
Draining Edition (opens the original)
Read excerpt
I thought I’d be directing my attention to figuring out all the apps I will need to travel to China in a couple of weeks, but then we noticed a stain the ceiling, below the washroom. At least it was not actively dripping, but obviously it is not a good thing. I am hoping the drywall and plumbing people are able to sort things out before we leave on our trip.
