    Excerpt · Positive tone

There’s something so surreal about walking around in a cap and gown to go and get breakfast. The world is just starting to wake up and there’s barely any people on the streets, but those that I pass smile kindly and wish me congratulations. A lady excitedly exclaims her well wishes and shares that she’s starting her university course today, so I wish us both good fortune. Someone else stops me to wish me luck and tells me that I look beautiful.I eat my breakfast of champions — a chocolate twist

The heat has completely fallen out of the air. Everything is starting to frost slightly around the edges. The sun is taking longer to rise in the mornings — I’m finding the rate of myself getting dressed in the dark increasing rapidly. I fumble around for my clothes, determining by touch if I’m putting them on backwards or inside out. I’m usually wrong. One girl versus the corporate world (opens the original)

    Excerpt

    Read excerpt

There are so many noises, I think as I march to the bus stop. I can hear a shower running in one of the houses on my street, an alarm sounding from another open window. My feet crunch rhythmically on the gravel, a steady beat propelling me forward. To the left of me a lady plays fetch with a beautiful golden retriever that jumps and prances around after its ball. To the right of me a man shouts for his dog to stay close. I keep my eyes forward, focusing on how the ice in my flask rattles when I

What does it mean to be 'punk'? (opens the original)

If I had to identify my biggest source of inspiration, apart from staring out of the window, it’d probably be music. If you know me well enough you’ll know that I can’t go a single post without referencing music in some way. I just love how songs can express so much and can take on entirely different meanings depending on your mood or the context you listen to them in. (Sidenote: are we dreading the new Beatles biopics or do we think they might turn out good??)I do have a confession to make, tho
